The founder and proprietor of A Pink Ribbon Boutique, Suzanne Penny is first and foremost a cancer survivor, but this is only the beginning of her story. Diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2004 with a promising career under way, Penny fought her way through denial, acceptance and finally, challenge. From her personal experience, she felt most cancer-care stores were cold, sterile, distant and couldn’t relate to what she was feeling. Suzanne wanted to offer an environment in her store that is physically, emotionally and spiritually supportive, in order to best help cancer patients through their treatments and to help them move forward with their lives, realizing all the while that they are still beautiful women.
A Pink Ribbon Boutique offers a warm and friendly environment catering to both healthy and cancer-stricken women. A wide selection of top-quality wigs, designer clothes, custom designed shoes, chemotherapy grade skincare, stylish hats, “Hollywood Style” pajamas and robes, breast prosthetics supplements and herb teas, are available to help women feel beautiful and healthy from the inside out.
Suzanne is currently serving as the Mission Delivery Chair for the Relay for Life, a fun-filled 24 hour event designed to celebrate cancer survivorship, raise money for cancer research and other programs for the American Cancer Society. Last year she raised money for the Susan G. Koman Foundation and donated to the National Children’s Cancer Society.
Suzanne’s background includes financial experience with such organizations as top-10 residential mortgage lender Indymac Bank. In 2006 Penny also served on the Board of Directors for the California Mortgage Brokers Association (CAMB).
An early interest in advertising and marketing led Suzanne to positions with such industry leaders as Brubaker & Associates, one of the largest marketing firms in the automotive industry and California Creative Enterprise Enterprises, which placed, on average, $60 Million per year in media buys. Suzanne’s acting aspirations led to a role as one of the leads on NBC’s hit series “Who Wants To Marry My Dad” where she was featured in all 8 episodes.
Being a cancer survivor has, for Suzanne, been the highest accomplishment of her many interests and talents. A Pink Ribbon Boutique offers a place where women can look, shop and most importantly, relate and share experiences. It’s Suzanne’s way of offering her experience so that others can face the challenge head on and envision a future. |
